Boat Cooker Recipes

Welcome to the 'Easy Recipes' section of BoatCooker.com, the site for boat cookers, galley cooking info and online bargains. Here you can try out a few of our quick and simple menu ideas, each designed for easy preparation from basic ingredients and in a confined galley. A hearty meal is a necessity for anyone expecting to spend hours on-deck, but preparing one can be a nightmare for those on cooking duties if the conditions are a little racy. Forget a tablecloth and wineglasses; oftentimes just keeping a pan stable on a stove can prove difficult enough.

Beans : Easy to mock but hard to ignore. They are ridiculously easy to prepare and make for a quick hot meal. A bit of grated cheese and/or a sprinkle of pepper can add a little variety

Eggs : Always easy to boil, fry, poach or scramble. A simple omelette can be turned into something a bit more interesting with a tin of tuna, pieces of cheese, bacon chunks or anything else that takes your fancy.

Nuts : Nuts are a great snack that require no preparation or cooking and can be stored in an airtight container for a long period of time.

Pasta : Quick to prepare and any leftover can always be eaten cold with mayonnaise tomatoes, tuna and cucmber. Plenty of packet sauces are available including carbonara, funghi, tomato etc. Using only some fried beef mince, a bolognese sauce and spaghetti, you have a quick and hearty meal.

Porridge : There's nothing quite like a hot bowl of porridge, maybe with a swirl of jam or honey to taste, and as body fuel goes, it can be hard to beat for anyone facing an early morning seaspray..

Rice : Another quick to prepare staple that can be turned into a healthy rice salad or as an accompaniment to chilli-con-carne or a range of basic curry recipes.

Tins : Tinned produce will be the mainstay (pardon the pun) of many boaters' galley creations. Corned-beef, steak and gravy, rice pudding, sardines, soups, macaroni cheese, tuna, peaches, new potatoes, pineapple, condensed milk, processed ham, sauces, toffee pudding and a myriad of other foodstuffs can be useful standby options.
